On Sexy Criminals

A couple of years ago I started reading a comic called Sex Criminals by Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky and it changed the way I viewed comics. It was the first one I put on a pull list, the first one that I wrote a letter to (it got published) and on my desk is a signed copy of Sex Criminals #2 (I packed down my BA diploma, but this stays forever).

Sex Criminals mean a lot to me and I think this bit of fanart from 2015 shows that. Sure, it was quick and it's wonky and the website url doesn't exist anymore, but it has love and energy that I've failed to achieve in other drawings. I don't do a lot of fanart anymore but I do go back to Sex Criminals from time to time because it genuinely gives me so much joy — if I ever make a comic a fraction (hah!) as good as that, I'll be happy.

Also, this drawing? Is what made Chip Zdarsky follow me on tumblr. So there's that.
